PAULO DIAS DUARTE
Paulo Dias Duarte is a Portuguese composer that started his studies at Academia de Amadores de Música in Lisbon and then went on to finish his Bachelor Degree in Music (Jazz) at Middlesex University and his Masters' Degree in Music Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance in London. In 2016 he became a Soloist Composer at the Royal Academy of Music of Denmark and today he shares his time and career between Lisbon, London and Copenhagen.
Paulo started composing Music for Theater in 1994 at Mandrágora – Produções Teatrais and later for the Theatre Company - "Depois da uma, Teatro?". He also composed music for contemporary Dance in "Transgarden" by Choreographer Filipa Francisco and later for "Vitriol" by the Mafra Dance Company.
He composed the original soundtracks for the films "How I Feel" and "Innocent When You Dream", both by Gonçalo Luz, "How Tom Got His Scar", by Markus Shroder, and "The Seven Deadly Sins of Captain Alms" by Bartosz Dzidowski. He composed the final credits theme for "The View'', also by Bartosz Dzidowski.
Since the nineteen nineties, Paulo has composed music for various ensembles in completely different aesthetics, from Jazz Big Bands to Chamber and Symphonic Orchestras and other Chamber formations. He also directed several jazz groups, such as the Pablibut Sone Quartet, Ensemble Raum, The Stolen Project and The Overground Collective Big Band.
